WHAT THE LOST MAN DISCOVERS SIXTY SECONDS AFTER DEATH

LU. 16:19-31

At death all opportunities for salvation are gone.

DEATH DOES NOT END ALL

    1. There are those who say that death is all. Ro. 1:22
    1. Voltaire – "I am abandoned by God and man: I shall go to hell."
    2. Some religious people.
    1. God’s word reveals the truth.

1Cor. 15:51,52 – not all sleep- some shall He. 9:27 The empty tomb of Jesus proves this is true.

Assures our own resurrection 1Cor.15:12-19; Jn. 5:28,29

THAT GOD HAS A RECORD OF HIS SIN

    1. Rev. 20:12 – how much plainer can you get.
    2. 2Cor. 5:10; 1Pe. 1:17

    3. God knows all about your sin. Rev. 2:23
    4. Sees everything you do. Jer. 16:17; Ez. 11:5 – even every thought

    5. How does that make you feel?

THAT SATAN HAS LIED TO HIM

    1. Of course! That is Satan’s main characteristic. Jn. 8:44
    2. He lied to Eve Gen. 3:4; everyone – Prov. 16:2; us – "God will not condemn."

    3. But God will judge. Mt. 25:31ff

THAT THERE IS A HELL

    1. People like to believe in heaven but not hell
    2. There is a hell
    3. torment Mt. 25:41-46; It never ends Mk.9:44; fire Rev.20:10

    4. The rich man woke to torment.

THAT HE HAS MISSED THE GREATEST THINGS IN LIFE.

    1. His own salvation
    1. What could be more important? Rev. 20:6
    2. Consider the alternative.
    1. To win others to Christ
    2. Now he sees the need. V. 27,28 – but it’s too late.

    3. To truly love those around him. "The Greatest Man I Never Knew"

HE STILL HAS A MEMORY

    1. He remembers every sermon.
    2. Maybe even Jesus Himself. All the warnings of the prophets

    3. He remembers all those times he was convicted – and turned away.
    4. He remembers the prayers of his mother.

ALL OPPORTUNITIES TO BE SAVED ARE GONE FOREVER

    1. There will be no second chance. He. 9:27
    1. Death is a time of dividing and separating Mt. 25:33
    2. This separation cannot be altered by anyone else. Ez. 18:20
    1. Notice he had nothing to say in his own defense.
