Men's Buisness Meeting Minutes Oct 1, 2000

In the Men's Buisness Meeting of September 17, 2000, we discussed the procedure for selecting elders. This is what was decided. 1. Private notification of the elder candidates. If the candidate wishes to know the percent of the congregation that nominated him, He will be told. 2. Candidates must indicate if they do NOT wish to serve as an elder. If they don't indicate either way, it will be assumed that they wish to serve. The candidate has two weeks to decide. 3. After all of the candidates have been notified, those willing to serve will have their names put before the congregation. 4. The members of the congregation will have 2 weeks to challenge with scripture a candidates qualifications for the work of an elder. 5. If a candidate is challenged, he will be notified of the number of challenges. A schedule will be worked out between the candidate, the challenger, and the committee. 6. If the challenge cannot be resolved at this meeting, then the candidates name will be put before the men's buisness meeting. They will be charged with deciding whether the candidate is ready for the work of an elder. 7. Candidates who are not challenged or those for whom the challenges have been resolved will be installed as elders.

Men's business meeting minutes Oct 8, 2000

Those present:

               David - Proctor
               Phil
               Larry
               Glen
               Doug
               Arley
               Chuck

The main topic of discussion was the installation of Elders,
providing there are at least 2 qualified candidates remaining.

We also set the schedule for Sunday morning and evening
services, and we set devotional schedules.

Listed below were some of the decisions made during the meeting.

        1. Installation will take place on Sunday Oct 22, 2000

        2. We will seek a guest speaker to speak for the installation.

        3. We will have a circle of prayer for the installation.

        4. Sunday evening will be a potluck at the Hilburn house.

        5. The prayer for the Offering will simply be a prayer of thanks.
We are going to eliminate the portion of the offering where we
typically tell the congregation that the offering is a
responsibility only of the members. It was decided that the
offering box was sufficient to avoid coercive giving, and the
statement was discouraging to guests that wanted to give.
