Are you a Christian?

By: Doug Long

Most people in the United States will answer yes to this question. But the question still remains. The Bible clearly tells us what we need to do to be saved, but many congregations ignore what the bible says, espically when it comes to baptism. A lot of people call themselves Christians, but are they?

I John 5:13 says I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

God has told us clearly what we must do so to know that we will be saved. He is the creator, and therefor he can dictate the terms of our salvation, and being a loveing God, he made it easy for us to be saved,

We must hear:
Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We must Believe:
Acts 16:31 So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

We must repent:
Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

We must Confess our faith publically:
Romans 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

We must be baptized:
I Peter 3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

So the question remains, are you a Christian? If you have done the things listed above, you can call yourself a Christian in all honesty. If you haven't done these things then you can't, and you are not saved. Remember what the Bible says about the deamons in

James 2:19. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder.

If you are not saved, I would like to encourage you to take advantage of what Jesus did for you. He Died for you, what a shame it would be if he died for nothing!
