67% Chance That God Exists!

By Doug Long

I was recently visiting a science site on the web, and was astonished to find that they actually calculated the probability that God exists. In case you are wondering the probability is 67%. I was astonished because science actually acknowledged that there is a possibility that God exists! It has been my experience that science has been mostly dedicated to proving that God doesn’t exist.

Have you ever read a weather report when they predict rain? They may predict a 40% chance of rain, but if it doesn’t rain isn’t the chance 0%? And if it rains isn’t the chance 100%? I say it is the same with God. In Job 26:7 God says that he hung the earth upon nothing. Some scholars date the book of Job between 1500 and 1400 BC. As recently as 400 years ago science still was trying to figure out what held the earth up, but they later learned that the Bible got it right.

In Isaiah 40:22 God describes the earth as a circle. Again scientists tried to figure out what the shape of the earth was, and again the Bible got it right. It is clear to me that the folks writing these books had to be in touch with a higher power. They lacked the most rudimentary instruments to observe and measure the “correct facts” that they recorded. Scientists that came along later tried to figure out what the shape of the earth was and what is was supported on, and were wrong.

In considering probabilities all of the facts should be considered. For instance over 40 different authors from all walks of life wrote the Bible: shepherds, farmers, tent-makers, Doctors, fishermen, priests, philosophers and kings. Despite these differences in occupation and the span of years it took to write it, 1600 years, the Bible is an extremely cohesive and unified book. Prophecies should be considered as well. I think it is obvious that with all of the evidence being considered that the probability of the existence of God is 100%. The web site is sciam.com if you are interested.
